Garlic - Hardnecks Sierra Vista Farms garlic shallots
asparagus plants rhubarb plants organic colorado

For 2009 Sierra Vista Farms has three hardneck (stiffneck) garlics to sell:   Bogatyr, Music and Spanish Roja.   Bulbils for Music and Bogatyr will also be available in August, 2009.   (An inexpensive way to grow a new garlic.)

Our garlics can be used as eating garlic or seed garlic.   After being harvested in late June or early July, the garlic bulbs are allowed to dry for a minimum of 30 days with the roots and tops attached.   (Experience has shown that garlic bulbs aged in this manner will store longer.)

We never use commercial insecticides; always using organic growing methods!   Instead we make Rhubarb leaf "juice" whenever a bug becomes a problem.   (A great second reason to grow Rhubarb in your garden!)

Please let us know (a note on your order form) if you'll be using the garlic for eating or planting.   If for planting we'll include more medium sized bulbs so your clove count will be higher (30% higher than a mix of Medium and Large).   The resulting crop will still consist of Jumbo, Large and Medium bulbs (and be 20% to 25% larger).   With good growing conditions small and medium cloves will produce medium, large and jumbo bulbs.

music garlic - hardneck Music
(Mix of large = 2.5" & medium = 1.5")   A garlic brought to Canada in the 1980s by Al Music from Italy.    One of the best garlics for consistent production of 2.5" to 3" white bulbs with a hint of pink on the bulb wrappers.    Sweet pungent flavor, and very tight, durable heads.    Four to seven large cloves per bulb.
