At the lowest point in the New Meadow expansion there is a new Collection Pond.   Unlike the Big Pond, this one is built in one day.   Water will be used immediately or pumped to the Big Pond.		 (May 2, 2008)
 Two feet down the dark topsoil gives way to lighter soil.   Now to finish ripping and collecting all those pulled up tree roots.   Then disk and plow and move the fence to the new outer perimeter.

All the stumps have been pulled.   The branches moved to out of the way.   Ripping the ground has brought up a lot of roots.   Next project is collecting all the loose pieces.		 (May 2, 2008)
 At the far (lower) end of the New Meadow expansion there is now a small collection pond.   One more day of ripping and collecting roots and we'll be ready to plow the new ground for the first time.

Now a few days of easy work for the backhoe after digging the Big Pond.   It takes 15 to 20 minutes to remove a large stump.		 (April 9, 2008)
 The west side of the New Meadow next to the Bulbil Field.   The new field will be planted in Garlic and Shallots this Fall.

The selected trees have all been turned into firewood.   Two-thirds of the stumps have been pulled and removed.   Many small roots are still in the ground.   When the ground is ripped 24 inches deep, every 18 inches (north/south and east/west) they'll decompose and add to the soil fertility.		 (April 9, 2008)
 The weather report says "rain turning to snow" tonight.   We hope it's true.   The new ground is dry six inches deep.   Ripping and plowing in sawdust will add greatly to the soil's moisture holding capacity.

New Meadow Expansion is well under way.   The cutting down of trees has begun.   There will be 10 cords of firewood stacked and drying for future use when completed.		 (February 13, 2008)
 The initial clearing phase will bring an additional 5 acres into production.   We hope to have the trees removed, stumps pulled and ready to rip and plow the Middle of April.
